Many Mothers is excited to announce the arrival of Joy’s Baby Boxes!
This is an exciting program which aims to reduce the rate of infant mortality in our community through the distribution of Baby Boxes, in-home support, and safe sleep education.
What is a Baby Box?
- A box made of heavy cardboard, with mattress and sheet, serving as a safe sleep environment for a baby weighing up to 15 pounds.
- The box includes some useful baby supplies to help baby get off to a good start, such as diapers, wipes, ointment, onesies, and other basics.
- Families who participate in the program will also receive free education about safe sleep practices, including a home visit from a Many Mother Program Coordinator and follow-up at one and six months. Home visits are available in both English and Spanish.
Thanks to the generous support from the Life Center Foundation, the Joy Rose Lanum Memorial Fund, and CYFD PullTogether, Baby Boxes are now available to families in Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, and Los Alamos Counties with incomes below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines (for a family of two, that is less than $32,480/year; for a family of 3, that is less than $40,840/year; for a family of 4, that is less than $49,200).
Many Mothers is happy to receive donations of new or like-new items for the Baby Boxes, such as:
- diapers (sizes 1, 2, 3)
- swaddle blankets
- baby healthcare kit
